Lakespeare

From park lawns to pubs, Lakespeare wanted to cement its place in Canberra’s cultural calendar. Our solution’s ongoing adaptability has achieved that and helps attract large audiences season after season.

Lakespeare - papermonkey

The Opportunity

Lakespeare needed to solidify its presence in Canberra’s crowded events market and was seeking a new direction to grow its audience.

With few sources of income, the company relies on sponsorships, grants and donations to survive and stage its free summer shows. Founded to make Shakespeare accessible and relevant for all Canberrans, Lakespeare’s productions always have a sense of fun.

The Solution

Bright, irreverent visuals reimagine the Bard with bold colours and cheeky twists, positioning Lakespeare’s productions as fresh and relatable to modern audiences.

Our approach has longevity and creativity at its core. For each new season we develop a unique solution that captures the company’s playfulness, while leaving the viewer in no doubt that this is another Lakespeare event.

This work continues under an ongoing sponsorship agreement between Lakespeare and papermonkey, as part of our design for good philosophy.

We're a small not-for-profit but we are instantly recognisable around Canberra. The strong visual identity papermonkey created for us really reflects who we are and has been a huge part of our success. Each year our audience has grown thanks to this great partnership.
