MONKEY BUSINESS: Ben Lopez has brought his visual strategy and graphic design company, Paper Monkey, to the Sunshine Coast.

A CREATIVE agency known for pushing the envelope has found a home on the Sunshine Coast after two decades of business.

Canberra-based company Paper Monkey has been awarded alongside world class organisations like Nike and Walmart during its 20 years of service.

Now founder Ben Lopez has moved to Buderim with a mission to expand Paper Monkey’s geographical reach.

He said his team’s unique approach to creating content and helping organisations rebrand was unmatched.

“We’re not trying to compete with the flooded graphic design and creative services industry,” he said. “We’re doing everything from the 3D virtual tours, to logo design, strategic brand development … I think that sets us apart.”

Paper Monkey has found its niche in the education sector, producing 3D virtual tours for colleges and universities. Mr Lopez said the technology was an exciting prospect for both the client and his business. “It’s becoming very popular,” he said.

“It’s helpful for when people might need to make a very big decision which involves a lot of money, and they need to decide on a school. “They want to know exactly what a place is like, where sometimes photos, videos and descriptions don’t really help as much. “If you’re doing a 3D tour, it’s like you’ve actually been there.”

With a team of visual strategists, inspired thinkers and creative specialists, Mr Lopez said Paper Monkey was dedicated to pushing the boundaries. “When we first started, it was all about graphic design,” he said.

“But like many industries, what we used to do, you can now get online from overseas for an eighth of the price. We’ve had to develop our services and turn it more into getting paid for our thinking than what we actually do.”
